"Not a fashionista" Kim Mulkey hilariously downplays her eye-catching outfit at LSU vs Florida: "I don't put any thought into it"

Kim Mulkey's LSU remained unbeaten this season after earning an 80-63 victory over Florida at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center in Gainesville on Sunday. The Tigers coach continues to be a central figure in the team’s success, having led it to an impressive 20-0 record.

Meanwhile, Mulkey’s bold sideline attire has become a talking point throughout the season, and her outfit for Sunday’s game was no exception. Sporting a purple sweater adorned with basketballs and hoops, paired with bright orange pants, Mulkey drew attention for her striking fashion choice.

When asked about the ensemble during the postgame interview, she downplayed the decision, saying (4:23):

"I don’t put any thought into it. Someone does. Correct. OK. I don’t. They lay it on the bed, they tell me to wear this, and I wear it."

Even when pressed about wearing orange pants in a stadium decked out in Florida’s orange and blue colors, Mulkey remained nonchalant.

"No, I’m not a fashionista like that," she said.

This isn’t the first time Mulkey’s outfits have turned heads. Earlier in the season, she wore a sweater featuring a basketball backboard and dangling hoop during a game against Auburn. Another memorable look came during the Tennessee game, where her “Nothing But Net” sweater stole the spotlight.

Mulkey has also made headlines for her thoughtful gestures toward fellow coaches. Ahead of Sunday’s game, she presented Florida coach Kelly Rae Finley with a gift in celebration of her pregnancy. Finley, who is expecting in April, became the second SEC coach this season to receive such a gesture from Mulkey.

Earlier, Tennessee’s Kim Caldwell received several packed gifts from Mulkey before their matchup in January. Caldwell is also pregnant.

Over the years, the Louisiana native has turned heads with a series of bold and unforgettable looks. One of her most talked-about ensembles featured a sequined tiger-print suit from designer Nadine Merabi, perfectly embodying her fierce and confident spirit.

On St. Patrick’s Day, she embraced the festive spirit with a green sweater stitched with the cheeky phrase:

“Kiss Me, I’m a Queen.”

Not one to shy away from sparkle, Mulkey also stunned in a rainbow sequin duster, paired with black pants and a fitted pink camisole. Perhaps one of her most memorable moments came during the 2023 March Madness when she wore a green-and-pink tweed floral blazer. The outfit was elevated with bright pink ostrich feathers running along the sleeves, paired with white pants and pink pumps.

With Sunday’s win, Mulkey achieved a significant milestone, earning her 111th victory as LSU coach. The Tigers now shift their focus to a high-stakes matchup against second-ranked South Carolina in Columbia. Scheduled for Thursday, it promises to be one of the most anticipated showdowns of the season.
