Cameron Boozer was named the tournament MVP as Team USA won gold at the FIBA U17 World Cup on Sunday after a 129-88 victory over Italy. With this win, the U.S. extended its record to 51-0, having won every time since the biennial tournament's inception in 2010.

In the final win over Italy, Boozer finished with 24 points and 13 rebounds. He averaged 20.1 points, 9.9 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.7 steals throughout the competition.

ESPN recruiting director and college basketball analyst Paul Biancardi extended his congratulations to two-time All-Star Carlos Boozer's son with a post on X.

"Impressed but not surprised that Cameron Boozer was named MVP," Biancardi said. "24 points and 13 rebounds in the championship game. Averaged 19.5 points and 9 rebounds throughout the tournament.
"Scored inside-out with a great hands, touch, footwork and angles. The most consistent and productive player in high school basketball who impacts winning."

Speaking to the press after the win, Cameron Boozer said of his MVP win:

"It's cool, but it's more of a team thing. The team dominated the whole tournament, winning games by 50 points every time. It's a great group of guys, and I love playing with them.
"I think we had a great team with a lot of great characters on and off the court. It was a great group of guys. I think it's one of the best groups of guys FIBA has ever seen, so I really appreciate playing with all these boys."

In his junior year at varsity basketball with Christopher Columbus High School, Boozer averaged 22.2 points, 11.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.1 blocks per contest.

Cameron Boozer prepares for his final season in high school

The upcoming year will mark Cameron Boozer's final season in high school. The small forward has received offers from nine schools, including his father Carlos' alma mater, Duke, along with North Carolina, Kentucky, Arkansas and Michigan.

Boozer can also choose to stay close to home as he has received offers from Florida, Florida State and Miami. The forward is reported to be a longtime target of UNC, and he recently commented on the Tar Heels interest.

“It’s how hard they play, how great their defense is. Another school that’s one of the most winningest schools in college. Things like that. [Hubert Davis] is a great guy. He really gets his players to get after it, compete every night. That’s what made them so good this year. So that’s probably the main thing.”

For now, Boozer has not made any comments on his final decision, but some reports speculate that he could choose to stay in his home state.
