Flau'jae Johnson's mother, Kia Brooks was beaming with pride following LSU's gritty 89-87 victory over Tennessee on Jan. 9. Earlier today, Brooks took to social media to express her joy over the Tigers' impressive performance on the road, which helped them maintain their perfect record.
Brooks made the trip to Knoxville along with her kids to watch the Tigers take on the Lady Volunteers at the Thompson-Boling Arena.
She uploaded a series of clips from the game on her Instagram story. One of them mentioned how LSU's embodiment of the spirit of college basketball made her excited for what they could achieve this season.
"I'm still on a high from last night's game! I'm super excited about this year's team and loving how the players and coaches are working together to bring home wins. There's nothing quite like the energy of a united team! Geaux Tigers!!"
Flau'jae Johnson shines as Kailyn Gilbert comes through in the clutch
Kia Brooks and her family were treated to a special performance from her daughter, Flau'jae Johnson, in LSU's game against Tennessee on Jan. 9. The junior guard finished with 20 points, while grabbing eight rebounds, dishing out three assists, and recording two steals and a block in her 38-minute performance.
Johnson boosted her stats for the season to 19.7 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists across LSU's 18 games so far.
Kailyn Gilbert came off the bench to power the Tigers to victory, making a difficult reverse lay-up to put them 89-87 up in the very last second of the game. Gilbert finished the game with 22 points and five rebounds in her 31-minute performance.
Senior forward Aneesah Morrow led the Tigers from the front, scripting history with her 39-minute performance against the Lady Vols.
