UConn standout Paige Bueckers sent a message of support and well wishes for her former Huskies teammate Nika Muhl. The Croatian hooper suffered an unexpected ACL injury while playing overseas for the Turkish club Besiktas in the EuroLeague SuperCup.
Muhl hit the hardwood floor in the third quarter when the Besiktas faced Fenerbahce. She sustained a no-contact injury and let out a scream while she held her knee in pain. Help was provided as she was stretched off the court. The team later revealed to the fans that she had torn her ACL.
The injury news elicited a reaction from Bueckers; who took it to X to post her warm wishes and support.
"Nothing my twin can’t overcome. Gonna destroy this comeback journey! God speed. 🙏🏼🫶🏼"
Muhl averaged 11 points, 9 assists, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals before succumbing to her injury.
Paige Bueckers is ready to prove that she's the best player on every level
Bueckers is entering her final season of college basketball with the UConn Huskies. She and her teammates are healthy this year, which means the players are ready to take down their competitions in the 2024-2025 college basketball season.
"I want to prove that I'm a winner at every level," Paige said, as per The Ringer.
Last year was the most successful year for Bueckers, as she played without any injuries and could easily take down their opponents. As she enters this new season, Paige Bueckers and the Huskies are aiming to win the 2025 NCAAW championship title. But if they don't, Geno Auriemma said:
"If, for whatever reason, we don't win a national championship this year, she'll feel like, 'I'm the best player to ever play at Connecticut that didn't win a national championship.'"
Even though the Huskies are favored to win the 2025 NCAAW tournament, Bueckers would be one of the most highly talented players who played for UConn. She can join the likes of Breanna Stewart, Rebecca Lobo, Diana Taurasi, Maya Moore, etc.
