Fans reacted as Geno Auriemma's UConn Huskies' injury woes continued with sophomore forward Ayanna Patterson reportedly re-injuring her shoulder during the trip to the Bahamas last week. Coach Auriemma dropped the news on the UConn WBB Coaches Show on Thursday.

Many were disappointed to learn that Patterson will likely undergo another surgical procedure. Her re-injury is a frustrating setback for both the No. 2 UConn and its fans, who have been dealing with a slew of injuries over the past couple of years.

"Yanna I'm so sorry oh my god I feel so bad for her she’s been through so much sending my love & prayers to her speedy recovery Yanna hope you feel better soon," one fan posted on X.
"When will this end :( praying for a speedy recovery 🙏," another distraught fan tweeted.
"I was afraid of this outcome once I saw her back in an arm sling. The crew will hold it down Ayanna…get well soon," one fan said.

Here are some more reactions on X:

"I know shoulder injuries very well and I feel horrible," one user wrote.
"I feel bad for Yanna its one thing after another that just won’t heal properly," another fan added.
"man poor girl prayers up for her and a fast and healthy recovery," one fan expressed.
"UConn can't catch a break," a fan posted, with a crying face emoji.

UConn's Ayanna Patterson's injury history

Ayanna Patterson, a 6-foot-2 Fort Wayne native had injured her shoulder in October. She had a minor knock during practice ahead of the season’s start.

"Yanna just whacked her shoulder against somebody… So that set her back a little bit," Geno Auriemma said at the time. "I don't know about Yanna (being fit to start the season) because she's still in that sling. They're restricting her range of motion."

Patterson had just been cleared for full contact and even traveled with the team to the Bahamas to take part in the Baha Mar Women's Championship. However, the sophomore appeared to injure her shoulder again.

Ayanna Patterson, who joined the Huskies in 2022 has only appeared in 30 games for the team. She missed her entire sophomore year after knee surgery last December. Geno Auriemma shared that Patterson has been dealing with knee tendinitis since her high school days.

As a freshman, Patterson averaged 2.2 points and 2.2 rebounds in 10.0 minutes per game for UConn. She played her last game in UConn's loss to Ohio State in the Sweet 16 of the 2023 March Madness.
