Paige Bueckers readies for a challenging 2024-25 season
Paige Bueckers will play her fifth and final season of college basketball as a redshirt senior with the Geno Auriemma-led UConn Huskies. Instead of declaring for the 2024 WNBA draft, she will aim to win the 2024 NCAAW championship this year.
When Bueckers and the Huskies played last year, they were defeated by the Caitlin Clark-led Iowa Hawkeyes in a 71-69 loss in the Final Four. Talking about the defeat, she noted that this year will be different.
“I was sick about the last game,” Paige Bueckers said, as per The Ringer. "And sick about how our season ended. This is my last year to get what I came here for. … The urgency is at an all-time high.”
As per The Ringer's report, Bueckers is pushing herself to the maximum to win the national championship title.
“It’s watching, playing, preparing myself mentally, physically. It’s all a part of bettering myself.”
Geno Auriemma believes Paige would feel "100 percent" incomplete if she does not win what she's preparing for this season. He does his part by inspiring her and sometimes "cussing" her, as Paige said in The Ringer report.
