North Carolina star Ian Jackson threw down a thunderous poster dunk against Wake Forest on Tuesday at LJVM Coliseum. Although the Tar Heels ended up losing 67-66 in a heartbreaker, the freshman's highlight-reel slam was one of the best plays of the night.
Midway through the first half, Jackson found himself on a fast break and charged toward the rim after a missed layup by Deacons guard Juke Harris. He then elevated high above hapless Wake Forest defender Hunter Sallis and slammed the ball through the hoop with tremendous force.
Ian Jackson's enormous dunk sparked an eruption of cheers from North Carolina fans and sent social media into a frenzy. Overtime shared a clip of the emphatic jam on Instagram.

Ian Jackson reflects on team confidence after back-to-back losses
North Carolina came into the Tuesday game at Wake Forest following a 72-71 loss to Stanford in Chapel Hill the previous weekend. The Tar Heels followed that up with another one-point loss 67-66 to the Demon Deacons.
While the back-to-back defeats have dropped UNC's record to 12-8 overall and 5-3 in ACC play, a far cry from its preseason No. 9 ranking, Ian Jackson believes the team’s confidence remains strong.
"We lost both games by one point. The confidence didn’t drop," the 6-foot-4 guard said after the game. "We just have to do the little things a little bit better and get back to doing the little things a little bit better. You know, closing out games and doing everything we can to win."
Ian Jackson, who has been a bright spot for the Tar Heels, finished the game with seven points, three rebounds and two assists.
The Bronx, New York, native tallied double-figure scoring in eight straight games for the Tar Heels before losing to Stanford. His 14.7 points per game are the second most on the team behind veteran RJ Davis.
