Flau'jae Johnson has been making strides in her professional career as a basketball player and a rapper. On Monday, the LSU guard added another accolade. The 20-year-old Johnson closed the deal on her first piece of land in her home state of Georgia.
Her mother, Kia Brooks, took to her Instagram story to share the news. She wrote:
"One proud mama"
Flau'jae Johnson replied to the story, pointing out that her mother played an important role in guiding her through life. To this, Brooks replied:
"I'm making sure you set up. So if you have to ever do it without me, you good."
Flau'jae Johnson has been vocal about her mother's role in helping her navigate her NIL business deals. Kia Brooks is Flau'jae's primary manager and in her acceptance speech for the Innovator of the Year at the INFLCR NIL Summit, the guard said (via On3):
“I want to thank my mom cause she’s really got me this far, being a mom, being my manager, negotiating all my NIL deals, from my shoe deals to my local deals in Baton Rouge, so I want to thank her.
I just want to say, man, I’m blessed, honestly. Just being in a position to be able to profit off my music and my name, image and likeness being a basketball player and a rapper.”
Flau'jae Johnson once revealed that her mother quit her job for her career
Flau'jae Johnson participated in "The Rap Game" as a 13-year-old and later competed in "America's Got Talent." While pursuing her rap career, Johnson was also playing basketball in high school. Balancing both needed extra help, so her mother, Kia Brooks, sacrificed her job to help her.
"It was me and my mom," Johnson said on the 'Ebro in the Morning' show. "She started everything, built everything (and) she still handles everything. She built it (from) the ground up. If it wasn't for my mom, I wouldn't be in this position. When I went on the Rap Game, she quit her job so that she was able to be there for me on that."
Now, Flau'jae Johnson and her mother have built a successful and valuable business profile. The guard has signed NIL deals with Campus Ink, Doritos, LG Electronics, Meta, Papa John’s, Powerade, Raising Cane’s and Taco Bell.
