The trailer of episode 2 of "Geno & CD: 40 Years of Excellence" showcases Chris Dailey making fun of Geno Auriemma's golfing skills. The opening segment showcases the $18 million worth (as per Celebrity Net Worth) coach spraying up a few shots at the golf course.
Even though Dailey had a few questionable teed-up swings, the associate head coach could not hep but poke fun at Auriemma.
"I hate to tell you but our A-player is not having his A-game," Dailey said.
"Geno & CD: 40 Years of Excellence" is an ongoing series by SNY that highlights the unique bond between UConn Huskies head coach Geno Auriemma and associate head coach Chris Dailey. Part 2 will be aired on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. exclusively on SNY.
The two have worked together since 1984, when Auriemma first started the head coaching role at the University of Connecticut. Together, the combination has provided 11 NCAA championships, making UConn the all-time leader in women's basketball. They have also led the Huskies to 14 straight Final Four games.
Auriemma and Dailey's last title came in 2016, which was the last stretch of their four back-to-back championship runs.
Geno Auriemma's thoughts on starting from scratch with Chris Dailey
Geno Auriemma recounted his early days with UConn and Chris Dailey after matching Tara VanDerveer's all-time winningest record in NCAA (1,216 wins) in November. The coach claimed that neither of them had an idea on which direction they wanted to lead the program towards, and said:
"When we started coaching together, we didn’t have anyone else that we could rely on to help us build what we were trying to build," Auriemma said. "We didn’t even know what we were trying to build, we were just trying to not finish last in the Big East."
"We relied on each other for everything. We were the ticket office, the recruiting coordinators, the media people, the coaching people. Anything that had to be done, we had to do it."
Dailey has also subbed in for Auriemma as head coach for 17 games throughout her career, winning all the contests. She is also the brains behind the recruiting and training of notable post-up talents like Breanna Stewart, Rebecca Lobo, Swin Cash, Tina Charles and Napheesa Collier.
