Paige Bueckers and Nika Mühl shared a special bond during their time as teammates at UConn. While the Seattle Storm fulfilled Mühl's dream of going pro this year, Bueckers chose to stay in Storrs to play out her final season of eligibility.

Despite going their separate ways, the two remain good friends, calling each other their twins after the Storm drafted Mühl in the second round this year. Earlier today, Mühl uploaded a post with her cats on Instagram after undergoing surgery on her left knee.

She suffered an ACL injury last month when playing her first game for Turkish side Besiktas against Fenerbahce in the European Cup Series. With her surgery now, she will miss the rest of the season.

Bueckers responded to Mühl's update with an Instagram story, sharing a kind message with the post.

Besides playing in the Huskies' backcourt, Bueckers and Mühl also share the hardships they face with their injuries. In August 2022, Bueckers suffered an ACL injury which kept her out for the 2022-23 season.

Paige Bueckers made a strong comeback in the 2023-24 season, forming a lethal partnership with Nika Mühl in the Huskies' backcourt. Despite their teammates being hit by injuries, the duo powered UConn to a Final Four appearance, missing out on the NCAA Tournament final after a narrow loss to Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Bueckers' impressive performances earned her unanimous All-American honors and a place on the All-Big East First Team. She was also named the Big East Player of the Year.

Bueckers, touted to be a top-five pick in next year's WNBA draft, is keen to win the elusive national championship in her final season of college basketball. She will begin her quest for the title on November 7, when the Huskies open the upcoming season with a home game against the Boston University Terriers.
