This week, Paige Bueckers, Azzi Fudd and the rest of the UConn Huskies got together for a special cause. On Friday, the Huskies posted photos in their pajamas and wrote:
"Supporting our friends at Connecticut Children’s on PJ Day! We’re wearing our pajamas to help raise awareness and support for the Center for Cancer & Blood Disorders."
Fans in the comments shared their thoughts on their outfit choices:
"Paige and Azzi looking like parents on Christmas Day watching you unwrap gifts you were told you weren’t getting 😭💀," a fan wrote.
"Aubrey with her bluey pjs," another commented.
"Bigger than basketball," another said.
"Sarah committed with the bonnet!," one fan noted.
"Azzi and Paige are twinning," one fan said.
After a successful start to the season, the UConn Huskies have hit a lull as they lost their first game to Notre Dame on Thursday. The loss came despite Paige Bueckers' 25-point performance.
"Hidalgo is the head of the snake," Bueckers said after the game. "She does a lot of great things offensively, defensively. She's a pest. I think the best thing that she does is her energy and her attitude and the way she leads that team with that and the fire that she brings."
Paige Bueckers creates history with Nike
During UConn's game against Louisville last Saturday, Paige Bueckers debuted her first player edition shoe with Nike and her teammates supported her by wearing it for the game. She is the first college player to have a special shoe deal with the brand. The G.T. Hustle 3 comes in a multi-colorway with baby blue and lavender.
"It's just crazy, surreal," Bueckers said (via The Mirror US). "Just to look back at the picture, it's definitely wild. I'm extremely grateful, extremely blessed that Nike gave me the opportunity to share that with my teammates.
"It was really a group thing because it's really not the 'Paige Bueckers' shoe - it's everybody who's invested and been around me shoe."
Bueckers also explained that she was very involved in the creation process, sharing:
"It was really fun, it was like a back and forth collaborative project. Me sharing ideas, them coming back with ideas and sort of like talking through it that way. But they have a great creative team and then I threw some ideas in there and so together, I thought it came out perfect."
Up next, Bueckers will lead the Huskies against Georgetown on Saturday.
