Paige Bueckers showed her spiritual side to fans in an Instagram post on Monday. The UConn Huskies star thanked the Lord for her amazing year in 2024. The star quoted a verse from the Bible to articulate her feelings, sharing the message from Psalm 107:1.
Bueckers had much to be thankful for in 2024, particularly her good health. She managed to avoid serious injury this year after missing parts of last year due to a torn ACL she suffered in a pickup game in August 2022. Bueckers played 39 games for the Huskies this year, including all of UConn's 13 games thus far in the 2024-25 NCAA season.
"Thank you God for an amazing year," Bueckers posted. "Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever! Psalm 107:1."
One of Bueckers' significant accomplishments this year was reaching the Final Four with UConn in April. She carried the Huskies on her back after a string of injuries ravaged their lineup, leading UConn to victories over Jackson State, Syracuse, Duke and USC in the 2024 NCAA Tournament to secure a Final Four clash with Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Bueckers' title dream was dashed by Iowa, however, losing 71-69 in a thriller at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, Ohio.
Paige Bueckers returns to UConn for another title shot in 2024-25 NCAA season
Before the Huskies made their unexpected Final Four run, Paige Bueckers announced in February that she would return to UConn for the 2024-25 NCAA season. That decision proved wise, as Bueckers is playing some of the best basketball of her career. She is averaging 20.9 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists through 13 games.
Bueckers is coming off a stellar performance in No. 7 UConn's 67-41 win over the Providence Friars on Sunday. She led all scorers with 23 points, 19 of which came in the first half. She helped the Huskies get off to a strong start against Providence, scoring 14 points in the first 10 minutes to give UConn (11-2) a 28-6 lead after the opening period.
