Paige Bueckers delivered an all-around game for UConn before succumbing to a left knee injury late in the third quarter. The No. 7-ranked Huskies stormed to an 83-52 win over Villanova in a Big East clash on Sunday on the road.
Bueckers tallied 15 points, three rebounds, nine assists, three steals and one block in 25 minutes before getting hurt with 1:37 left in the third period when she was going for the loose ball. Villanova's Jasmine Bascoe dove and landed on the 6-foot guard's left knee.
The Hopkins, Minnesota, native remained on the court for a minute before getting up with a limp. She went to the locker room before returning to the bench. UConn coach Geno Auriemma decided not to play Bueckers anymore as a precaution.
The guard had a good start, tallying five points on a layup and a 3-pointer while adding two assists, a steal and a block. Her contributions gave the Huskies a 23-15 lead over their conference rivals.
Bueckers added two points, two rebounds, four assists and one steal in the second quarter and the Huskies held the Wildcats to nine points en route to a 43-24 lead at halftime. In two quarters, the senior guard had seven points, two rebounds, six assists, two steals and one block.
She stepped up her attack in the third period, tallying eight points, one rebound, three assists and one steal before the incident sidelined her for the rest of the game.

UConn relied on solid games from Sarah Strong and Paige Bueckers to complete the rout over Villanova and improve to 4-0 in the Big East and 13-2 overall.
Strong tallied 21 points, on 9-of-12 shooting, including 2-of-3 on 3-pointers, to lead Huskies to the wire-to-wire victory. The forward added five rebounds, four assists, one steals and one block in 26 minutes for the Geno Auriemma-coached squad.
Bueckers added 15 before the injury, and KK Arnold also scored 15 off the bench for the Huskies, who remained tied with Creighton and Seton Hall in the conference standings.
Jasmine Bascoe led the Wildcats (7-8, 1-2 Big East) with 12 points, on 4-for-17 shooting, and Denae Carter added 10.
UConn returns to action on Wednesday to take on Xavier at the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut. The Musketeers (5-9, 0-3) are coming off a 65-60 loss to DePaul in their last game on Thursday.
