Paige Bueckers and her team pulled off a thrilling victory over Flau'jae Johnson's squad in a nail-biting 5v5 showdown during Overtime Select's Takeover event at the OTE Arena in Atlanta on Friday. Team Paige edged out Team Flau'jae with a final score of 105-102, delivering an intense and competitive game that kept fans on the edge of their seats.
Team Flau'jae had the advantage heading into the final minute of the game. But Team Paige went on a stunning late run, with the help of some costly Team Flau'jae turnovers. Paige Bueckers' squad scored the last 12 points of the game to steal the win.
When the final buzzer sounded, Paige Bueckers' team celebrated their dramatic victory with the UConn star on the court.
Team Paige opened strong with 25 points in the first quarter, followed by 34 in the second, 20 in the third, and 26 in the final quarter. Their balanced attack was led by Kate Harpring, who dropped 22 points, with Jerzy Robinson close behind with 20. ZaKiyah Johnson and Nation Williams each added 12 points, while Jessie Moses and Ryan Carter contributed 10 points apiece.
Other contributors included Mia Pauldo and Kelis Fisher with 6 points each, Micah Ojo with 5, and Stella Lockhart with 2 points.
On the other side, GG Banks led Team Flau'jae with an impressive 25 points, followed by Destiny Jackson with 19. Taylor Brown added 17 points, and Gabby Minus contributed 15.
Despite strong efforts from Oliviyah Edwards, Hailee Swain, and the rest of the team, they fell just short of the win.
The game was part of the Overtime Elite (OTE) series, which shines a spotlight on rising basketball stars, especially young female athletes.
According to an On3 report, Bueckers has an estimated NIL worth of $1.4 million, while Johnson isn’t far behind with $1.2 million.
