Cooper Flagg had a royal hangout, as he stood alongside the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for a photograph during this year's ESPY Awards ceremony. The University of Duke commit was there as he received the Gatorade Best Player of the Year Award, alongside track and field athlete Sadie Engelhardt.

Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, is the youngest child of King Charles of England and the younger brother of William the Prince of Wales.

He married American celebrity Meghan Markle (known for her role in the TV show Suits), and after a series of spats with the Royal Family, both of them left their roles as working members of the Royal Family (losing the title His/Her Royal Highness) and relocated to the US.

They're both a common sight in the American celebrity landscape since moving to the States. For his part, Cooper Flagg is already projected to be the first overall pick of the 2025 NBA Draft, even though he hasn't had his first game at Duke. About winning the ESPY on Thursday, the player told Yahoo Sports:

"It's a huge accomplishment and great honor to be here and a great opportunity to interact with elite players from different sports. It means a lot. It's just a really big thing for me, knowing how much has gone into it."

The player is presently preparing to represent the US at the 2024 Olympic Summer Games in Paris. He's the only player in this year's Olympic team that hasn't played in the NBA yet.

Cooper Flagg wows with his performances at US Olympic basketball preparation

A video made the rounds on the internet this week, showing Cooper Flagg making a mockery of several defenders of the US Olympic Team during an indoor training session ahead of the 2024 Paris games. Flagg can be seen scoring a three-pointer over All-NBA Defense selection Anthony Davis in the video.

He spoke with the media about the chance of joining Team USA at such a young age (He's just 17). He said:

“It just comes from my mindset, once the ball goes up, I'm just trying to win at all times. So, I'm just a competitor and that's what it boils down to. It's a little bit of adjustment being on the court with them, but at the same time, I'm just playing basketball and just trying to win.”

Cooper Flagg and the Team USA begin their participation in the Paris games on July 28, when they face Serbia. The USA is part of Group C, alongside Serbia, South Sudan, and Puerto Rico.
