With the new college season a month away, LSU star Flau'jae Johnson is enjoying the off-season by attending university football games. She was in attendance for the Tigers' matchup with South Alabama on Saturday in Baton Rouge.
Johnson shared a photo of her sitting in the stands among the crowd cheering for the home team. She rocked a stylish all-black outfit including joggers and a black cap with logos of several college sports programs embedded on it.
LSU thrashed the Jaguars 42-10 to secure their fourth consecutive win this season. The Tigers lost the season opener to USC at Allegiant Stadium earlier this month but have bounced back by winning four on the trot.
Against South Alabama, LSU took a 21-0 lead in the first quarter. Quarterback Garrett Nussmeier stole the show by racking up 415 passing yards and four touchdowns.
Flau'jae Johnson was also at the Tigers' game against Nicholls State earlier this month. During half-time, she had a short interview with the SEC Network, where she talked about her responsibility as a leader for LSU.
"I think for me, just being the leader, and I'm trying to intel what like being a leader is and trying to lead the team," Johnson said. " I know the system. I know Coach Mulkey, so I have to go display that every day."
Flau'jae Johnson shares a fan's letter on Instagram
LSU's Flau'jae Johnson was emotional after she received a letter from a fan. On Sunday, she posted the handwritten letter on Instagram story with the caption:
"I got the best fans ever. yall keep my going .. Thank you, Avery and Lily."
Two sisters, Avery and Lily, penned the heartwarming letter commending Johnson's basketball talent and wishing her success this season.
Johnson has garnered a significant fan following, with 3.7 million fans across social media, one of the highest among female college hoopers.
In episode 10 of her "Best of Both Worlds" podcast, Flau'jae Johnson shared her emotional moment with basketball fans.
"I think when it's the kids cry, they kind of be putting you in perspective of what really matters," Flau'jae said.
"I feel like sometimes as athletes we kind of get lost just being in the basketball and being so locked in, we kind of forget these people that really look up to us." [24:58]
Johnson, alongside Angel Reese, led LSU to the NCAA glory in her freshman year. Last season, she averaged 14.9 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game.
