AJ Dybantsa, the No. 1 basketball recruit in the class of 2025, is on the official visit trail. After visiting Kansas State on Aug. 30 and Kansas on Sept. 6, the forward is in Chapel Hill visiting the North Carolina Tar Heels.

Dybantsa shared on Instagram story a photo of him in the blue and white jersey with Tar Heels coach Hubert Davis.

"🐏🐏🐏???," he wrote.

AJ Dybantsa also posted his pictures from the visit to his Instagram on Saturday.

"tar heel nation 🐏 ???," he wrote in the caption.

After reclassifying to the 2025 class, Dybantsa received offers from multiple programs. He then gave his shortlist of seven schools in August. The other programs on the list are Alabama, Baylor, Auburn and BYU.

With Dybantsa moving to Utah Prep for his senior season, many have predicted that he will pick the BYU Cougars. The forward has shared that he is going to choose the program that fits him best and will announce it in February.

During an interview with ESPN, AJ Dybantsa revealed the reasons why he picked each school. About North Carolina, he said:

"Great track record of bringing in guys with my playing style in the NBA. It was an easy choice to visit. Obviously, my goal is to be in the NBA. They have had guys with a track record of play like my position [that] went one-and-done. Of course, they had Michael Jordan and coach Roy Williams was coaching there before coach Hubert Davis.
"I see Kenny the Jet [Smith] at the EYBL game, and he keeps yelling "Carolina Blue." I spoke with Coach Davis a few times. He is a cool dude. He has been part of sending guys to the NBA."

AJ Dybantsa shares his criteria for narrowing down his final choice

With the large number of offers that he received, Dybantsa employed specific criteria for shortlisting his choices. The program has to be family-oriented and must be a winning program, offering development both on the court and in the strength program.

Dybantsa also added that since he is going to be a one-and-done player, the program must offer him the space to impact the team immediately in terms of minutes and other playing opportunities.

His father, Ace Dybantsa, shared that NIL is not a deal-breaker for his son as he wants him to go to where he can have the most success on the court.
