Coach Dan Hurley is already looking toward the future after leading the UConn Huskies to back-to-back NCAA Tournament victories. On Thursday, an image of Hurley and his staff surfaced, where they are pictured alongside one of the top high school prospects in the country, Braylon Mullins.
The visit indicates that Mullins is clearly on the radar for the Huskies, who have already strengthened their roster by landing five-star small forward Liam McNeeley toward the end of April. The Huskies made an offer to Mullins on May 29, and the shooting guard made an official visit to Connecticut just over two months later, on Aug. 1.
Mullins is the 23rd-ranked overall prospect per 247Sports. He enjoyed a stellar junior year with Greenfield-Central High, averaging 25.0 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 3.2 steals per game. The four-star guard is one of the top high school prospects who hasn't decided which program to join.
The Huskies are not alone in pursuing Mullins, as several college basketball teams have made offers to the talented guard. Besides UConn, Mullins has also made an official visit to the Michigan State Spartans and an unofficial visit to the Kentucky Wildcats.
He will make an official visit to the Michigan Wolverines on Saturday and has official visits to the North Carolina Tar Heels, the Indiana Hoosiers, the Duke Blue Devils, the Tennessee Volunteers and the Wildcats lined up in the next seven weeks.
Recapping Dan Hurley's memorable 2023-24 season as UConn Huskies coach
Dan Hurley is arguably in the most successful phase of his coaching career. Following a solid 2022-23 season, the Huskies looked dominant in 2023-24, losing just thrice all season en route to capturing their sixth NCAA Tournament title in program history.
This saw the Huskies tie the Tar Heels in third spot on the all-time list of NCAA Tournament winners.
The Huskies will be favorites to pull off a rare three-peat in the upcoming 2024-25 season. However, rumors of UConn looking to leave the Big East for the Big 12 in the future could spark a massive reaction not just within the team but all of college basketball as well.
