USC star JuJu Watkins has been keeping herself busy during the summer break. The LA native was in Paris for the Olympics in August and recently attended the Trojans' Week 2 game against Utah State.
On Saturday, Watkins shared a picture of herself cheering for the home team at LA Memorial Stadium. USC secured its second win of the season with a comfortable 48-0 victory over Utah State, keeping its record perfect.
"fight onnnnnn," Watkins captioned.
Watkins wore a brown and yellow USC football jersey paired with jean shorts and white sneakers to complete the outfit. In the picture, she was on the field holding a t-shirt cannon.
She also participated in the Mamba League Invitational in August alongside LeBron James' son Bryce James. However, the best experience for her in the offseason was when she attended the Olympics.
"It was crazy. Just the environment," Watkins said on the Best of Both Worlds podcast. "I got to see a lot of different sports. I didn’t get to see basketball, but I saw gymnastics, volleyball and track and it was just crazy."
"From the outside looking in, there’s so many different countries in there supporting. So, the energy and the vibes are just amazing and to see the greatest in the world compete, it’s really, it’s just inspiring."
JuJu Watkins talks about adding new skills to her game
JuJu Watkins' freshman season at USC was a fairy tale. The top recruit from the class of 2023 stepped into college and immediately made her mark, as she earned the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year and USBWA National Freshman of the Year awards.
She also scored 920 points which set a new record for the most scored by a freshman in a season surpassing Tina Hutchinson's record.
In the "Best of Both Worlds" podcast on Friday, Watkins shared what she worked on ahead of the new season.
"Definitely left hand and also like pace. Just slowing the game down that's the biggest thing for me this year. Then just repetition, like shooting with dead legs, trying to rep that every day," JuJu said.
"I think coming off screens, there's a lot, but also, I get blitzed a lot. So just being intentional with my moves, slowing it down, speeding up, getting to my spots."
JuJu Watkins led the Trojans to the Pac-12 championship and the Elite Eight in the NCAA tournament last season.
