Kiyan Anthony's mother La La Anthony received a special honor from the NYC Department of Youth & Community Development in recognition of her charitable efforts in prison reform and re-entry through the non-profit 'ThreeSixty'. Anthony's initiative is focused on the inmates at Rikers Island.

On Saturday, La La Anthony shared photos from the ceremony on her Instagram story with her holding a plaque that read, 'La La Anthony Lane.'

"The block we're going to be chillin at asap," she wrote.

La La Anthony is well-known for engaging in charitable causes. On Dec. 11, the actress hosted her 7th annual Winter Wonderland event in the Bronx. 400 children between the ages of 8 and 16 enjoyed an evening of games, gift giveaways and a holiday dinner at the Gaucho Gym in Mott Haven.

“I also want to encourage everyone to give back in any way that they can,” Anthony said (via 21Ninety). “The holidays are a great time, but I think sometimes we forget that doesn’t mean it’s a great time for everyone.
"Families are struggling, people are struggling, and the holidays could just be a reminder of what families don’t have or what families need. So, just be mindful of that as we enter into this season and really just try to help as best as we all can.”

La La Anthony prepares for her son, Kiyan Anthony, to leave for college soon

Kiyan Anthony is a senior at Long Island Lutheran High School in New York. After months of speculation, the guard chose the Syracuse Orange as his college choice last month on his father, Carmelo Anthony's podcast, '7PM in Brooklyn.'

La La Anthony was also present for the episode and she commented on Kiyan moving out soon.

"I'm not a person that cries like that but it's emotional," she said. "I'm so proud of you and I just want you to know that I'll always be here for you and it's gonna be hard not having you in the house. I don't know how I am gonna adjust to that, but I am trying, I'm in therapy to work through that."

With his choice, Kiyan Anthony follows in Carmelo's footsteps, who spent one season with Syracuse and won the 2003 NCAA championship.
