MiLaysia Fulwiley and her girlfriend, track and field star JaMeesia Ford are going strong and it showed in their recent date. The South Carolina Gamecocks power couple went on a fruit juice date and Ford posted a photo of Fulwiley posing with two jugs of juice on her Instagram story on Saturday.
"Cranberry and apple juice," Ford wrote.
Fulwiley and Ford first met at a hangout of the Gamecocks basketball and track teams in the fall of 2023. They began dating and shortly became known as a power couple in South Carolina sports. They went public in March after Fulwiley shared a TikTok video of them.
Fulwiley and Ford were named female Freshmen of the Year at South Carolina's 2024 gala, an annual celebration that recognizes the university's top athletes.
Dawn Staley praises MiLaysia Fulwiley amid struggles in South Carolina
MiLaysia Fulwiley enjoyed a stellar freshman season last year and was expected to continue her excellent form this campaign. However, she has been inconsistent, mostly due to limited playing time. South Carolina has a stacked team, leaving Fulwiley confined to the bench most of the time.
Fulwiley had to endure criticism from college hoop fans, with some saying that she should enter the transfer portal after this season.
"Milaysia fulwiley needs to hit the transfer portal after this season. this is sabotage," a fan tweeted in November.
South Carolina coach Dawn Staley had nothing but praise for the Fulwiley as she scored 20 points on 8 of 15 shooting in 21 minutes as the then-No. 3-ranked Gamecocks defeated then-No. 9-ranked TCU Horned Frogs 85-52 on Dec. 8.
"(MiLaysia Fulwiley0 is playing so much better, Ashlyn [Watkins] is playing (better), Staley said after the game, via WACH FOX's Matt Dowell. "They make us a different basketball team when they're as engaged as they were against TCU. They know what they mean to our basketball team. I get on them a lot, but certainly it's high praise for them today because ever since those practices prior to TCU, they've been on point.
"So I wanna put that out there because I know a lot of people wanna peel down some layers. It's their process too. It's their process. It's everybody's process that's behind me to get better."
The No. 2-ranked South Carolina Gamecocks will play their last game of the year against Wofford on Dec. 29.
