Former Stanford player Cameron Brink was selected as the second overall pick by the Los Angeles Sparks in the 2024 WNBA draft. However, her rookie season in the WNBA has come to an end due to an ACL injury.

As a result, many players and fans took to social media to wish her a speedy recovery, and one of them was UConn star Paige Bueckers, who took to X to show her support.

"Prayers up for Cam. GOD SPEED," Bueckers wrote.

Three times Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year, Cameron Brink was driving to the basket when she slipped and tore her ACL in the match against the Connecticut Sun. She announced her injury on social media.

"You never think it will happen to you," Brink wrote. "And despite all the hard work, it does happen sometimes. It's hard to understand but I know it will only make me stronger."

Cameron Brink averaged 7.5 ppg, 5.3 rpg, and 1.7 bpg in the 15 games she played in the WNBA this season. However, with this injury, she is set to miss not only the rest of the season but also the Paris Olympics in the summer, where she was on the USA's 3x3 basketball roster.

"I will not be derailed and I will continue to love this life - I'm not defined by basketball, but it's something I love deeply and I will work every day to get back to it. It's not a goodbye to basketball, it's just see you later. I am always very grateful for your thoughts and prayers."

Caitlin Clark, a former Iowa star who was the No. 1 pick in the 2024 WNBA draft, plays for Indiana Fever in the WNBA. She shared her thoughts on Brink's injury with the media before the match against Washington Mystics:

"Obviously devastating," said Clark. "You don't want to see anybody deal with any sort of injury, and obviously not one of that magnitude. I know that she's the type of personal that will be able to get through it, and come out stronger, but it just breaks your heart."

They both shared the stage as opponents for four seasons and were a part of the movement that took women's basketball to another level.
