Raven Johnson applauded her freshman teammate, Maddy McDaniel, for her outstanding performance during South Carolina's 99-51 win over the Purdue Boilermakers on Saturday.

McDaniel was a key player in the game, coming off the bench to score a season-high 10 points while shooting 5 of 5) and to dish out a team-high four assists. She also has a 7.00 assist-to-turnover ratio, making her the second to achieve that feat in the NCAA this season.

McDaniel's stats were posted on the Gamecocks' Instagram page following the game.

"That's a 𝙛𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙝𝙢𝙖𝙣, y'all – #2 in the country!" the page wrote.

Johnson took to the comment section to hail her teammate.

"My sweet baby ❤️❤️🤧," she wrote.

Dawn Staley praises Raven Johnson, Maddy McDaniel and Te-Hina Paopao for playing off each other

South Carolina coach Dawn Staley described how nothing can go wrong when Raven Johnson, Maddy McDaniel and Te-Hina Paopao play off each other in a game. The trio are point guards for the third-ranked Gamecocks (7-1), and Staley emphasized how important they are to the team.

"When you have pretty darn good point guards, you really can't go wrong," she said in a postgame news conference. "Pao, Raven, now Maddie, they do a great job at picking up where the other one left off. Or, if the other one is not having that type of game, they can see it and fill in for each other."

Paopao, a fifth-year player, was the standout player in the Gamecocks' 76-36 win against then-No. 15 Iowa State on Nov. 28. She had seven points, five rebounds and three steals. Johnson posted six points, while McDaniel had four points and four assists.

The three-guard rotation is expected to be back for the Gamecocks' game against No. 13 Duke on Friday.
