South Carolina women's basketball star Raven Johnson and Houston star Kateri Poole expressed their admiration for former LSU star, Angel Reese on Instagram. Reese posted several photos to showcase her "Miss America Vogue" look on her IG page on Saturday.
The WNBA star wore a red-and-white jacket, which showed off her toned abs and black bra, then jean trousers and a pair of brown boots. To complete the look, Reese wore a pair of black-rimmed glasses.
She captioned the photos, "miss american vogue."
Johnson and Poole joined other followers to gush over Reese's look.
"😍😍," Johnson wrote.
"😍," Poole commented.
Reese began her collegiate career at Maryland, where she played for two seasons. In her junior year, she transferred to LSU, where she helped the Lady Tigers win their first national championship while winning the Most Outstanding Player award and setting the NCAA single-season record with 34 double-doubles.
In her two seasons at LSU, Reese averaged 14.4 rebounds per game, the most in Southeastern Conference history. She was selected seventh pick by the Chicago Sky in the 2024 WNBA draft. Reese finished her rookie season averaging 13.6 points, 13.1 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game despite a season-ending injury.
Reese played for Rose BC in the inaugural edition of the Unrivaled league, scoring her team's first points and recording a double-double.
Dawn Staley reflects on Raven Johnson's ambition despite 2024-25 season struggles
Raven Johnson is regarded as one of the leaders of the South Carolina women's basketball team, helping the Gamecocks to last season's NCAA title (and being injured for the team's 2022 national championship run). However, the 2024-25 season has been challenging for the junior guard who is averaging 5.2 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.6 assists on 34.6% shooting.
Despite the poor stats, Gamecocks coach Dawn Staley recognized Johnson's drive for success.
"Raven just wants to win. That's it," Staley said per On3. "She's all about winning, and she's won state championships. She came here to South Carolina and said, 'I'm coming to win championships.'"
However, Staley acknowledged that Johnson's stats this season may affect her 2025 WNBA draft position.
Meanwhile, the second-ranked South Carolina took their stellar start to the season to 17-1 after beating the 19th-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide 76-58 on Thursday.
The Gamecocks, who hosted No. 13 Oklahoma on Sunday, will next face Kim Mulkey's fifth-ranked LSU Tigers in a much-anticipated game on Thursday.
