Aneesah Morrow transferred to LSU last season after two years in DePaul. The guard was one of the Tigers' best talents and led the team in many categories.

On Friday's episode of "The LSU Tigers Podcast – The Bengal Tiger," Morrow recalled one of the most memorable games from last season. On Jan. 25, the LSU Tigers, ranked ninth at the time, lost 76-70 at home to the top-ranked South Carolina Gamecocks.

"That game was probably, in my opinion, one of the best games, especially with our fans last year," Morrow said (Timestamp: 10:26). "I would kinda say that was a 'Welcome to LSU' moment for me.
"Honestly that home game against South Carolina, the atmosphere was there, the everything was there. Coach's outfit was there. It was just overall like that LSU."

LSU coach Kim Mulkey is known for her vibrant outfits, and for this game, she went with a black-and-purple shimmery jacket with a tiger's imagery on the back, all in sequins.

The Tigers came short of defending their 2023 NCAA championship last season (while South Carolina went undefeated en route to the 2024 national crown). However, Flau'jae Johnson and Aneesah Morrow solidified their positions as important players, with the help of each other.

Morrow, a two-time All-American at DePaul, was a first-team All-Southeastern Conference selection. Johnson, the SEC Freshman of the Year in 2022-23, was named to the second team.

"I feel like me and Flau’jae kind of took that challenge on, because she was like, ‘I'm gonna get more steals than you today,’ and I'm like, ‘No, you're not getting more steals than me today,’" Morrow said (Timestamp: 8:48). "So, we kind of put that challenge, especially on the wing and with me being able to switch off as well.”

Aneesah Morrow is set to take the leadership role for her final season

Aneesah Morrow will be playing her senior year with the Tigers and is expected to lead the team along with Flau'jae Johnson. She said in the interview that LSU coach Kim Mulkey has been sharing pointers to make Morrow a better leader.

"She told me she wants me to be more of a vocal leader,” she said. “She knows that I lead by example and my teammates will follow, but she wants me to be more verbal. And that's something I've been working on in practice. I've gotten a lot better at it, actually."

The LSU Tigers will be without Angel Reese, who has moved on to the WNBA, in the frontcourt, but Aneesah Morrow could fill in for the role as well since she averaged 16.4 points, 10.0 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 2.5 steals and 1.1 blocks last season.
