Denver Nuggets legend Carmelo Anthony's son, Kiyan Anthony, is continuing the tale of legacy prospects being in the reckoning to make the NBA after Bronny James was recently drafted by the LA Lakers.
Kiyan was recently named the No. 1 player in New York along with a top 40 ranking in the ESPN 100 class of 2025.
NFL star Russell Wilson's wife, Ciara, reacted to the news by reposting the ESPN graphic on her Instagram stories with the caption:
"Go @Kiyananthony."
Anthony has steadily improved his game in the past year and he averaged 19.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.5 assists during this year's Nike EYBL Circuit while facing the best talents in the country.
Kiyan Anthony's class of 2025 competition
The class of 2025 has some interesting prospects including Kiyan Anthony, who is the son of Carmelo Anthony, and Bryce James, who is the youngest son of LeBron James.
During an appearance on the "7 PM in Brooklyn" podcast alongside his father, the 17-year-old revealed how he used the past circuit matchups to measure his ability against other class of 2025 top prospects, including his close friend Bryce James.
"I feel like high school is different than AAU cause high school I was playing with like two top 10 players and we were like top three in the country but in AAU I gotta be on my own team and be leading and flourish, so AAU every team you play there's gonna be at least one top-ranked player so that's how you measure yourself. If you're able to guard that person and he's guarding you and if you're able to compete with them and if you're able to get the win," Anthony said.
Anthony has improved his ranking in the class of 2025 moving up from No. 62 last year to No. 40 this year according to ESPN. The growth in his game and being named the best high school player in his home state proves just how far he has come.
The next step for the in-demand Kiyan Anthony will be finally choosing which school to attend next year after narrowing down his list to six, including his father's alma mater, Syracuse.
