"SEC play is here": Flau'jae Johnson's step-dad Ameen hyped for LSU's exciting conference games

Flau'jae Johnson and LSU will embark on a lengthy conference schedule starting Thursday. Ahead of the Tigers' conference opener against the Arkansas Razorbacks, Johnson's stepfather, Ameen Brooks, hyped up the next two months of SEC play by sharing a post on Instagram.

After showing his excitement for the conference schedule, Brooks blessed his stepdaughter with a thoughtful caption.

"SEC PLAY IS HERE‼️💜💛 #mambamentality #big4 @flaujae - may Allah keep you in his merciful hands," wrote Brooks.

Since Ameen Brooks married Johnson's mother, Kia Brooks, he has forged a special relationship with the LSU star. On Father's Day this year, Flau'jae Johnson shared a special post thanking Brooks for showering her with immense love during her journey.

"I never got a chance to meet my dad. But I do know what it feels like to have a father.. You came into my life and showed me what a real man should be and I appreciate you for everything, especially taking care of my mama. Thank you for being my bestfriend🫶 .. Stand Up Guy #HappyFathersDay," wrote Johnson.

Flau'jae Johnson and LSU to face their toughest tests in conference schedule

The SEC is arguably one of the toughest conferences in women's college basketball this season. Six of the teams in the conference feature in the AP Top 25, and the Tigers' perfect record so far this season will be put to the test against teams like the Tennessee Volunteers, the Texas Longhorns and the reigning national champions, the South Carolina Gamecocks.

The Gamecocks, ranked second, and the Longhorns, ranked fifth, are the only sides placed above the Tigers in the AP Top 25, with Kim Mulkey's side in sixth place despite their unbeaten run in 2024.

Flau'jae Johnson has been extremely influential in the Tigers' flawless 15-0 record in non-conference play this season. So far, she has averaged 20.5 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.0 assists, and has three double-doubles to her name.

LSU will be fancied to start 2025 on a winning note in their conference opener against Arkansas, who are a disappointing 7-8 this season. The game between the 2023 national champions and the Razorbacks will take place at the Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville at 9:00PM ET.
