Paige Bueckers is preparing for her final season with the UConn Huskies. After coming close to a championship last season, Bueckers and her team will be hoping for a title win this season.
The Huskies have made significant roster changes, adding Kaitlyn Chen from the transfer portal. She is expected to replace Nika Muhl, who is currently playing for the Seattle Storm. They've also added No. 1 recruit Sarah Strong from the 2024 recruiting class, as well as two more freshman recruits.
Paige Bueckers making most of her offseason
After a successful freshman season, Paige Bueckers suffered an ACL injury midway through the sophomore season.
This has been her first healthy offseason, and she spoke on it to UConn WBB Weekly.
“I'm enjoying it,” she said. “I haven't had a lot of time this whole college career to work on my skills and get better during the offseason, work on my weaknesses and get better at my strengths.”
“It's playing a lot, playing a lot of 1-on-1,” she added. “Offensively, defensively working on that, learning how to play with pace… Continue to work on little things like shooting with range, shooting more threes, and just continuing to improve.”
However, it has not been all work and no fun for the guard. She participated in the WNBA All-Star weekend festivities and enjoyed some iconic moments with Caitlin Clark, Diana Taurasi and Flau'jae Johnson.
Bueckers also attended a basketball camp for youth, where she spoke on the importance of working hard and never taking things for granted. She took examples from her own life, where she almost lost her chance to play. The guard encouraged the young players to consistently work on their game.
