Paige Bueckers engaged in a three-pointer competition with South Carolina commit Eli Ellis. The 5-foot-11 shooting guard is most likely to join the Gamecocks in 2025.
What started as a funny banter between Bueckers and Ellis to score five three-pointers in the least attempts, turned rather competitive at the end. Both of them ended up being tied at four baskets each.
Bueckers, however, wanted to win it with a flair and attempted a half-court shot, only to fail. Ellis, on the other hand, did no such thing and simply shot his three-pointer from the arc and won it.
However, Bueckers claimed right after that the basket was not at a regulation height of 10 feet. This led to the height measurement of the basket and to everyone's surprise, it was a few inches off. Posting the whole debacle on Instagram, Ellis captioned it with:
"I never lose 😇"
CBB fans also joined in the fun with their comments as one wrote:
"She smoked you lol"
Let's have a look at some more fan reactions:
Paige Bueckers goes gaga over Nika Mühl
The UConn Huskies star is all about supporting her former UConn teammate, Nika Mühl, who’ll now light up the WNBA.
Bueckers was spotted donning Mühl’s #1 Seattle Storm jersey during a game against Angel Reese’s Chicago Sky at the Climate Pledge Arena.
"Once a Husky, always a Husky," wrote the Seattle Storm’s Instagram handle, capturing the camaraderie between the two athletes.
Fresh off her summer workouts, the 22-year-old women's basketball icon decided to take a West Coast trip to cheer on her 'twin' and enjoy some big-league intensity.
“It’s crazy, super surreal,” Bueckers shared. “Just to watch her live out her dreams and know that a few months ago, we were basically living together. So, it’s definitely surreal and I’m super proud of her.”
Before aiming for the top spot in the 2025 WNBA Draft, Bueckers is soaking in the excitement of seeing her close friend thrive. Their bond, forged at the University of Connecticut, remains strong as Bueckers looks forward to her pro career.
