The Kentucky Wildcats women’s basketball team, led by Georgia Amoore, concluded their non-conference schedule after securing an 88-70 victory over in-state rival Western Kentucky.
In the win, Amoore’s standout performance elevated their record to an impressive 11-1 as they gear up for SEC play. Ranked 15th in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll and 16th in the AP Top 25 poll, the Wildcats have had one of their most promising starts in years.
Georgia Amoore’s on-court excellence has been a cornerstone of Kentucky’s success. She delivered a masterful performance in the game against Western Kentucky, scoring 21 points and dishing out nine assists. Shooting 8-for-15 from the field, Amoore was instrumental in the Wildcats’ dominant display.

The Wildcats, as a team, shot 52% from the field and commanded the boards with a 41-26 advantage. Under head coach Kenny Brooks, Kentucky continues to impress with their balance and depth. Kentucky’s non-conference success serves as a prelude to their SEC campaign, which begins on January 2nd against Mississippi State.
Georgia Amoore reaches a major milestone in victory over Purdue
Kentucky Wildcats’s dominance this season extends beyond their win over Western Kentucky in mid-December. The Wildcats secured their first road win of the season with an 82-52 triumph over Purdue in West Lafayette, Indiana.
Though Kentucky struggled offensively in the opening quarter by posting only eight points to Purdue’s 12, they quickly found their rhythm. Georgia Amoore spearheaded the turnaround, propelling the Wildcats to a lead. Kentucky improved their shooting from a mere 28.6% in the first quarter to 45% by halftime, fueled by a 19-6 scoring run.
Amoore achieved a significant career milestone during the game, scoring her 2,000th career point in the second quarter. Kentucky’s victory over Purdue was a team triumph, showcasing their depth and versatility. Amelia Hassett led all scorers with 22 points, complemented by nine rebounds, four assists and three blocks.
