Villanova transfer Lucy Olsen is all ready for her senior season with the Iowa Hawkeyes. The guard made the move in April and is considered to fill the void that Caitlin Clark left when she left for the WNBA.
On Wednesday, Olsen shared a photo dump from her first Hawkeyes media day featuring other players like Kylie Feuerbach, Sydney Affolter, Hannah Stuelke and more.
"Sneak peak📸," she wrote in the caption.
Feuerbach reacted to the photo in the comments and wrote:
"SLLLAAYYINNGGGG!"
During her junior year with the Wildcats, Lucy Olsen averaged 23.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.9 steals. She shot 43.8% from the floor, including 29.4% from the three-point range.
Kylie Feuerbach speaks on Lucy Olsen's addition to the Iowa Hawkeyes
Over the off-season, the Hawkeyes underwent major roster and coaching staff changes. Core seniors from last year, Caitlin Clark, Kate Martin, Gabbie Marshall and Molly Davis, graduated leaving a huge gap in the roster depth. Lisa Bluder also retired, with Jan Jensen taking over.
Iowa has since also made major changes, with Lucy Olsen being one of them. They have also added four freshman recruits to the roster. During her media availability in July, Kylie Feuerbach spoke about the new additions to the team.
"She's amazing," Feuerbach said about Olsen. "I mean, she keeps that uptempo, which we like to do as an offense. But not only that, she's also a great defender.
"She's just a workhorse and she's fast. She's explosive. She's a three-range scorer, she can score from anywhere on the floor. And yeah, she's a great addition to this program."
Kylie Feuerbach was also asked about Lucy Olsen's personality, which she said was perfect for Iowa.
"I knew as soon as we had the dinner with her before she even committed here," Feuerbach said. "I didn't even know if she was going to come here or not, but even at that dinner I knew she was she would fit in perfectly."
"She's just a great person. She has our humor, so we laugh with her all the time and she is also just really nice off the floor. But on the floor, she's ready to go, so she fits in perfectly."
Despite the huge pressure of stepping in after Caitlin Clark, Lucy Olsen is confident in her skills and is ready to make her mark on the program.
