South Carolina coach Dawn Staley tweeted her reaction after the Chicago Sky defeated the Indiana Fever 88-87 on Sunday. The three-time NCAA championship-winning coach wrote a congratulatory tweet for former Gamecocks stars, Kamilla Cardoso and Aaliyah Boston, who is part of the Fever.
"Great game from my Gamecock WBB babies…..we just keep winning no matter the result! (Kamilla Cardoso) with the dub and dbl dbl! (Aaliyah Boston) with he near triple dbl. (Victaria Saxton) being the ultimate teammate! I say we are winning!!!" Staley tweeted.
Staley's students played for both teams. Therefore, any outcome would have made her happy.
Kamilla Cardoso, an NCAA champion last season, earned a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Her teammate, Angel Reese of LSU, became the star of the game as she dropped a career-high performance of 25 points and 16 rebounds.
Dawn Staley gave a heartwarming reaction to A'ja Wilson's Nike signature logo
South Carolina Gamecocks coach Dawn Staley has guided several basketball icons who are playing at the highest level in the WNBA. A'ja Wilson, a former Gamecocks standout, is one such star.
Staley has always supported Wilson; therefore, it wasn't surprising when she reacted to Nike's announcement unveiling a personalized logo for the Las Vegas Aces headliner.
Nike introduced a star-shaped logo that was inspired by Wilson's unique style as a player and by her unapologetic realness. When Staley saw the signature logo, she wrote a special message for Wilson on X:
"The (A'ja Wilson) LOGO! EYE LOVE IT! I guess we all are going to be SHINING!!"
Staley also expressed her excitement when A'ja Wilson's latest shoe line was announced in May.
This is how Staley makes sure to praise the achievements of her former Gamecocks stars.
