JuJu Watkins, Dawn Staley, Sue Bird, and Megan Rapinoe were spotted together at the Paris Olympics 2024. GQ Sports shared a picture of the four on Instagram.
The USC Trojans guard was sporting a white t-shirt. South Carolina coach Staley was in a casual outfit. Former basketball player Bird was in black. Ex-soccer player Rapinoe wore a stylish white t-shirt, sunglasses and a scarf.
Watkins has a $417,000 Name Image and Likeness valuation (per On3) and ranks 7th in college women's basketball. She has already set her sights on the 2028 Olympics in her hometown of Los Angeles. In a June interview, Watkins told The Associated Press [H/t The Associated Press]:
“That’s definitely a long-term goal of mine when I get done with my college career. Definitely something I’m looking forward to and having the chance to do that in my city would definitely be a dream come true.”
On Jul. 11, Watkins was honored as the best breakthrough athlete at The ESPY. From the Dolby Theatre stage in Hollywood, she said [H/t NBCLA]:
“This is crazy. I want to thank all the great, powerful women who came before me that made this possible.”
Watkins has emerged as a national star in women's basketball, averaging 27.1 points per game. Her outstanding performance helped lead USC to its best season in years, reaching the Elite Eight.
USC's JuJu Watkins finds inspiration in NBA star Paul George
JuJu Watkins draws inspiration from 9-time NBA All-Star Paul George. Last month a reporter for 'House of Highlights' asked her about the comparison with Legend Kobe Bryant, and she said:
"Kobe, I can't say Kobe. He's too great. I get Paul George sometimes a lot and that's just like the best compliment ever, so yeah, I'll say Paul."
As Watkins and the Trojans aim for a championship, they’re poised to be strong contenders next season. In their debut Big Ten season, the USC women's basketball team will host nine Big Ten teams at the Galen Center. Fans can look forward to exciting matchups against Illinois, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State, and UCLA.
