AJ Dybantsa is the most anticipated recruit from the 2025 graduating class. The five-star prospect will spend his final high school season with Utah Prep after spending the last year with Prolific Prep in Napa, California.
Dybantsa is currently in Shanghai, China, on an international tour with his Utah Prep teammates. They will play against China, Serbia and Japan. The small forward was photographed attending a game wearing the Travis Scott x Jumpman Jack TR “University Red” sneakers.
AJ Dybantsa enjoyed an incredible summer where he dominated the Nike EYBL circuit and averaged 22.6 points per game. He shot 82% from the field, including 38% from the 3-point range.
The small forward was a 2026 prospect but has reclassified to 2025 and will explore his college options in the summer.
AJ Dybantsa reveals his criteria for choosing a school
Last week, AJ Dybantsa revealed his top seven schools he's considering for his college career.
It includes Alabama, Auburn, Baylor, BYU, Kansas, Kansas State and North Carolina. While he has visited Auburn, his intention is to visit the remaining schools this summer before making a decision in February.
In an interview with ESPN, Dybantsa also revealed his reasons for choosing a program.
"I'm looking to build a relationship with a head coach who doesn't sugarcoat anything, but we can still have that bond both on and off the court," he said.
"(We can) talk about things on and off the court and play to my strengths while helping me with my weaknesses."
Commenting on the 'pillars' that will define his choice, he said:
"(It needs to be) family-oriented, a winning program, offer development both on the court and in their strength program, and for me to be one-and-done and ready to impact."
When questioned if NIL may play a role in his final decision, the forward's father, Anicet "Ace" Dybantsa, said:
"It's a factor, but it's not the reason we are picking a school. We left out schools that have a lot of money. A.J. will go where he feels he can have the most success on the court."
Dybantsa is also projected to be a No. 1 pick in the 2026 NBA draft. There's a lot of hope for him in the league as one NBA scout to On3:
“At this stage, Dybantsa is the best domestic prospect I’ve scouted in the past 10 years.”
