After declaring for the 2024 NBA draft, AJ Storr has withdrawn from the draft. The former Wisconsin guard committed to play his junior season with the Kansas Jayhawks.
In the 2023-24 season, he averaged 16.8 points and 3.9 assists, shooting 43.4% from the field and 32% from the 3-point range. Storr played his freshman season with St. John's, where he averaged 8.8 points and 1.9 rebounds, before joining the Badgers.
In the former four-star recruit's scoring report, 247Sports Director of Basketball Scouting Adam Finkelstein said:
"AJ Storr is a multi-talented big wing who is strong, athletic, has good positional size, and a skill-set to match. The key for Storr is efficiency. Offensively, that comes down to decision-making and shot-selection.
"Where Storr can be most dynamic is when he's in attack mode and hunting the rim. While Wisconsin played with a slower tempo, both his speed and leaping ability were evident whenever he was able to get out in the open floor."
AJ Storr led the offensive end of the floor in Wisconsin, a role he's expected to take in Kansas as well.
The Jayhawks had a low-performance season last year and will hope to revive themselves after adding Alabama’s Rylan Griffen, Rice’s Noah Shelby and South Dakota State’s Zeke Mayo from the transfer portal.
Kansas coach Bill Self gives his thoughts on AJ Storr and his playing style
After signing AJ Storr, Bill Self highlighted the importance of having a guard like him on the roster.
"He can score the ball," Self told 247Sports. "He's got individual talent, but I also think he can get more consistent shooting the basketball."
"I think he's one of those guys that late in the clock, he can go get a basket," Self added. "And we were lacking that last year. think AJ has to be more engaged defensively. Obviously, there's no reason why he can't be a great defender and a great rebounder."
AJ Storr will join seasoned veteran Hunter Dickinson, who's set to return to play for Kansas, exercising his fifth college eligibility year. Kevin McCullar Jr. and Johnny Furphy have moved to seek their prospects in the NBA.
The Kansas Jayhawks have the most well-rounded roster for the upcoming season, and fans are excited to see how they will match up against other powerhouses like the UConn Huskies.
