Paige Bueckers and Flau'jae Johnson's friendship quickly took over the internet when the guards met during the WNBA All-Star Weekend in July. The two gave a peek into their banter when Bueckers joined Johnson on her podcast, "Best of Both Worlds" in mid-August.
When talking about each other's performances, Flau'jae Johnson asked Paige Bueckers a very important question: Who is the better guard? Without giving the UConn star a chance, Johnson immediately answered:
"Me! Paige. She gonna get there one day, y'all. I feel like I still got some stuff to teach Paige, you know what I'm saying." [7:02]
As Bueckers laughed it off, Flau'jae Johnson also acknowledged one part of the UConn guard's game she hopes to emulate.
"I really love Paige, like, poise," Johnson said. "I think that's one thing that I want to learn to do this season, is just to be more poised. Because when I'm looking at you (and) Caitlin (Clark), it's like you look at them, you like, 'Bro, I could guard that. They don't look like they doing nothing."
"But then when you are on the floor with it, ... it's just different movement. I think your poise just make you a dog," she added. (From 07:00)
Flau'jae Johnson and Paige Bueckers predict a potential March Madness match-up
Flau'jae Johnson is entering her third year at LSU and she has not had the opportunity of playing against Paige Bueckers and the UConn Huskies. While it is possible for them to meet during non-conference games in the regular season, the chance has not come yet.
However, UConn and LSU have a possible chance at March Madness and the two guards predicted the emotion the game would generate.
"I think it would be very entertaining like both sides," Bueckers said (From 22:48). "I love Mikaylah Williams' game. I love her game, I wanted her to come to UConn but obviously, ... I think it'll be yeah entertaining.
"I'm sure the headlines would probably be me versus you, but a whole lot of talent on the floor," she added.
Paige Buekcers will be playing her last college season in 2024-25, making it her last chance to win an NCAA championship. While Johnson has a couple more years remaining, she revealed in an interview that a potential title win in the upcoming season will push her to leave early for the WNBA.
