Led by Georgia Amoore and ranked 16th nationally, the Kentucky Wildcats showcased their dominance in their SEC opener by defeating Mississippi State 91-69 on Thursday night. Under the guidance of head coach Kenny Brooks, the Wildcats displayed their offensive firepower by setting a program record with 18 three-pointers.
Amoore delivered 27 points, nine assists and an outstanding 7-of-10 shooting accuracy from beyond the arc. Her efforts played a crucial role in lifting Kentucky to a 12-1 overall record and 1-0 in SEC play. Following the game, Women’s Hoops Network celebrated Amoore’s outstanding game stats with a post captioned:

Georgia Amoore's fast-paced start sets the tone
Kentucky quickly asserted their dominance in the game, starting strong with five successful three-pointers out of eight attempts. By the end of the first quarter, they were shooting 56.3% from the field and had built a nine-point lead.
Amoore and fellow guard Dazia Lawrence were pivotal during this period. Amoore contributed eight points and four assists, while Lawrence added nine points, sinking three of her four attempts from deep.
Kentucky’s relentless pressure held Mississippi State scoreless for over three minutes in the second quarter, further widening the gap. During this period, the Wildcats’ three-point shooting continued with contributions from junior forward Amelia Hassett and junior guard Saniah Tyler. By the end of the game, Amoore had 27 points, nine assists, a rebound and two steals.
Amoore’s exceptional career has reached historic proportions. In 2024, she became the only active college basketball player, regardless of gender, to surpass 2,000 career points and 700 career assists.
In her prior game against Western Kentucky, she scored 21 points, provided nine assists and hit 8-of-15 shots from the field. Her performance was complemented by teammates like Clara Strack, who recorded a double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds, and Amelia Hassett, who was just shy of a double-double with 12 rebounds and nine points. Bench player Saniah Tyler also contributed significantly, scoring 11 points and hitting three of her four three-point attempts.
