Angel Reese shared her thoughts on the difficulties of being an LSU basketball player after coach Kim Mulkey talked about her team's intensity following the No. 5 Tigers' overtime win over Stanford on Thursday night. On Friday, Reese quote tweeted assistant coach Gary Redus' message on X, where he wrote that LSU is not for those "who don't want to be challenged" and players "who shy away from the moment."
Reese echoed Redus' sentiments, arguing that going to LSU will make you reevaluate your basketball life but the rewards will make the tough times worthwhile.
"Don’t come to LSU if you don’t want to rethink this hoop life cause you will be battle-tested. Happened time after time but definitely so worth it," Reese wrote.
Fans showed their support for Reese, who found great success with LSU during her time under Mulkey.
"PREACH! LSU will push you to your limits, but it's an experience like no other. The struggles are worth it for the lessons learned and the bonds formed," one fan replied.
"Seems like if you survive it, you certainly come out stronger in the end," another fan chimed in.
"The coaching staff set a precedent. You set a precedent," one user shared.
Here are some other reactions to Angel Reese's post.
"Hell yeah. Go Tigers," one fan posted.
"Geaux Tigers," another fan claimed.
"FACTS ONLY! LSU ain't for the faint of heart. You gotta be ready to put in the work and prove yourself. But the growth and rewards are REAL," another fan said.
Angel Reese on her 'love' for LSU
Angel Reese transferred to LSU from Maryland in 2022. She survived and thrived during her two years at LSU, leading the Tigers to the NCAA title in her first season in 2023. She scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to help LSU beat Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes 102-85 in the championship game.
In an interview on "360 with Speedy" on Wednesday, Reese shared that Baton Rouge will always have a special place in her heart.
"I'll always love and like go back to LSU because they kinda made me who I am," Reese said (05:24).
Reese currently plays for the Chicago Sky after she was selected seventh overall in the 2024 WNBA Draft. But she is currently in the offseason and has plenty of time to keep tabs on her Tigers.
