Florida men's basketball assistant coach Taurean Green has been accused of sexual assault in a complaint filed by a UF athletics department employee. The worker reported the allegations in mid-December.

According to ESPN's Paula Lavigne, the complaint stated that Green allegedly 'kissed the claimant and tried to put his hand down her pants after setting up a meeting with her at the athletics facility in March 2024.' Lavigne reports that she denied his advances before getting away.

While the incident was not reported at the time, ESPN reports that the investigation into Todd Golden's alleged sexual exploitation, sexual harassment and stalking led to the woman coming forward:

"She said that inquiry made her realize there could be concerns about a pattern of behavior and other women could be affected," Lavigne writes.

Taurean Green was a former player on the Gators' NCAA championship teams in 2006 and 2007, being named MVP of the 2007 SEC Tournament. He spent one year in the NBA before going overseas for the remainder of his career, last playing in Poland in 2021.

Green is in his third year on the Gators' coaching staff, first being the director of player development and was then promoted to assistant coach. Green hasn't responded to ESPN's requests for comment, however, the university released a statement:

“The law prohibits us from commenting on the existence or status of investigations. The University of Florida takes these matters seriously and conducts a thorough and deliberate process that ensures due process for everyone,” Steve Orlando, the university spokesperson, said (via ESPN).

Taurean Green is not the first Florida coach to be accused this season

The accusations against Taurean Green come during a turbulent time at the university, which is still handling an investigation into head coach Todd Golden from November. The Gators' coach is accused of sexual exploitation, sexual harassment and stalking.

ESPN's Paula Lavigne detailed the allegations:

"The Title IX complaint against Golden includes allegations that he sent photos and videos of his genitalia, made unwanted sexual advances on Instagram and requested sexual favors.
"On multiple occasions, Golden allegedly took photos of women walking or driving -- or their cars in various locations -- and then sent those photos to the subjects of the photos. He also allegedly showed up to locations where he knew the women would be, according to the Title IX complaint."

With this in the background and fresh accusations against Taurean Green, the No. 5 Gators prepare for their Sunday matchup against the Texas Longhorns.
