Davion Thompson, a point guard prospect from the 2027 class, received a scholarship offer from Tennesse Volunteers. Thompson is from Bolingbrook High School in Bolingbrook, Illinois.
The youngster took to Twitter/x to express happiness over the decision of Vols coach Rick Barnes:
"Blessed to receive an offer from The University of Tennessee"
The 6-foot-3, 170-pound point guard has now received offers from seven college programs: Tennessee, Washington, Wake Forest, Iowa, Bryant, Eastern Illinois, Illinois, and Michigan.
Thompson plays club basketball with Meanstreets. He was instrumental in helping the Bulldogs gain a Class 4A championship victory in 2022. He averaged 18.7 points in three state games.
Thompson was a prolific scorer in 2023 too. He scored 30, 35, and 48 points in three games in the class 4A tournament. But Bolingbrook narrowly lost the title game to Phoenix Coolidge, 58-56.

The exploits of Davion Thompson in high school basketball have helped him garner attention in college basketball. In high school basketball too, Thompson has won numerous passionate admirers.
After the Raiders were victorious over the Blackhawks in February 2024, Raiders coach Rob Brost heaped praises on the youngster:
“He’s a great player, obviously. He has poise beyond his years.”
Raiders senior Jason Lawani also didn't miss the opportunity to praise Thompson:
“Davion is a generational talent and we all support him. We all want him to do the best. He is the core to our team and with him, you know, we are going as far as possible to state.”
Tennesse is the only program thus far in the Southeastern Conference to offer a scholarship to Thompson.
