Texas Longhorns signee Aaliyah Crump is reaping the fruits of her hard work at Montverde Academy this season. Crump was announced on the Naismith Girls’ High School Player of the Year Midseason Team. Crump was joined by Darianna "Dee" Alexander, Sienna Betts, Nyla Brooks, Aaliyah Chavez and many others.
The 6-foot-1 guard from Minnesota is averaging 7.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game for Montverde Academy this season. This is not the first time that Crump will be receiving a major honor as she was also named the 2024 MaxPreps Minnesota Player of the Year and is a two-time All-State honoree
She had also averaged 24.4 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.7 steals and 3.3 assists as a junior, leading Minnetonka High to the 2024 4A State Championship.
Texas Longhorns celebrate Aaliyah Crump
Immediately after Aaliyah Crump was named as one of this year’s members of the Naismith Girls’ High School Player of the Year Midseason Team, the University of Texas took to Instagram to congratulate their signee.
Crump will be playing college basketball in Texas after signing with the Texas Longhorns. Speaking on why she chose the Longhorns, Crump revealed the coaches played a huge part in her decision.
"I chose Texas women's basketball because from day one the coaches made the program feel like home to me," Crump said. "The University of Texas will allow me to play the highest level of basketball and also receive a top-tier education. The coaching staff was very intentional in the way they recruited me and challenged me to be my best every day.
Speaking about the success of the program that she was signing with she said:
"I've always dreamt of playing for a winning program, and I know that those dreams will come to life playing for Vic Schaefer and his amazing staff. This program is bound to make history, and I can't wait to be a part of it."
Crump will join the Longhorns as one of the most popular girls basketball players from the class of 2025. The 6-foot-1 guard has over 25k followers on Instagram and has a NIL deal with the Klutch Athletics by New Balance brand. She became the first female athlete and the first high school NIL athlete to sign with the brand.
