Flau'jae Johnson's run with the LSU Tigers has been marked with historic moments like the NCAA championship in 2023. At the same time, the guard has also established herself as a full-fledged musical artist.

In June, the rapper released her debut EP 'Best of Both Worlds,' a unique feat for a full-time college athlete. The album, which features a collaboration with Lil Wayne and NLE Choppa, has been well-received by fans.

Talking about making time for both her passions on the Same Time Funky Friday Full Interview with Cam Newton, Flau'jae Johnson said (from 3:14):

"I sacrifice too for my family. And that's one of the big things that hurt me a lot because I got four little brothers. They like four or five, six. I sacrificed my time trying to pursue both, and so I know now that as I get more up in the ranks. I realize there are more resources that can help me.
"I'm learning how to adjust the time, use my time management, make sure I get my three or four workouts in my day and still go to the studio, still do press, (and) do interview. It's possible; it's just hard. That's why nobody ain't do it. That's why nobody has really been successful being a rapper and a basketball player or athlete because it's hard."

While she's enjoying her time playing in college and working on her music, Flau'jae Johnson is well aware that one of these careers is not going to last forever. Therefore, she's preparing herself for any change in the future.

"The ball ain't going to bounce forever like the ball going to go flat one day, and so you always want to have different ways to pivot. So maybe the music might outlast the basketball," she said to Newton.

Flau'jae Johnson and the LSU Tigers set to face a tough upcoming season

In the off-season, the LSU Tigers added Kailyn Gilbert, Shayeann Day-Wilson and Mjracle Sheppard and Jersey Wolfenbarger from the transfer portal. However, there were no heavy talent additions like USC, which brought in KiKi Iriafen and Talia von Oelhoffen. The Trojans rank No. 1 in the 2024 recruiting class.

Meanwhile, the UConn Huskies, led by Paige Bueckers, await the healthy return of its injured players. The two teams, along with conference rival South Carolina, could prove an uphill task for the Tigers to defeat.

LSU, without Angel Reese and Hailey Van Lith, will rely heavily on Flau'jae Johnson and Aneesah Morrow.
