“The boys”: Iowa star Lucy Olsen enjoys Christmas Eve with dad and Grayson Herr in latest IG snap

Iowa Hawkeyes senior Lucy Olsen rang in Christmas Eve with her family and boyfriend, Grayson Herr. On Tuesday, the guard posted on her Instagram story a picture of her father, Roland Olsen, and Herr, with the caption:

"The boys🕺🕺🫶🏻."

Grayson Herr spent four years playing basketball with the Trinity Tigers. He now works as the associate sales representative at Lincoln Financial Group. The couple celebrated their first anniversary on Nov. 8.

Lucy Olsen spent three years with the Villanova Wildcats before moving to Iowa for her final year.

About Olsen's inclusion on the roster, Iowa coach Jan Jensen told the media:

“She has an appreciation to be here. She gets to be a part of all of this. I love how she appreciates our home crowd so much. She came in as a big portal get and she never acted like a big portal get.

"She came in and learned the lay of the land and always showed that humility. In the summer showed why she was a portal get. She’s had a hard role because a lot of the spotlight is on her she’s had to learn everything just like a freshman."

Lucy Olsen and the Iowa Hawkeyes stumble despite a winning start

Lucy Olsen led the Iowa Hawkeyes to an eight-game winning start before falling to the Tennessee Volunteers earlier this month. They bounced back with a 75-69 win over in-state rivals Iowa State before falling once again to Michigan State. The Hawkeyes played their last game before break against Northern Iowa and won 92-86.

Iowa is navigating a new era with the loss of Caitlin Clark, Kate Martin and Gabbie Marshall. Olsen was brought in to help mitigate the departures, but the guard admitted that replacing Clark was not her goal.

“Caitlin Clark was amazing,” Olsen said. “She's playing so well, and her skill set is also very unique. I'm not going to shoot really deep threes. I feel my game is more mid-range, and I’m going to try to work my butt off in anything I can to help us out.”

Olsen's run with the Hawkeyes hit a few blocks as she missed three games with a knee injury. The guard is now back and is averaging 18.6 points, 4.0 rebounds and 5.1 assists on 44.6% shooting.
