“The Caitlin Clark clan is gonna hate this”: College hoops fans react as Ta'Niya Latson surpasses ex-Iowa star for major milestone

Florida State's Ta'Niya Latson has garnered a lot of attention as the current leading scorer in the country this season. Thanks to her high-volume scoring, she passed former collegiate star Caitlin Clark in one achievement following the Seminoles' contest against Stanford on Thursday. FSU lost to the Cardinal, 89-84.

According to "TrendyHoopStars" on X, Latson became the fastest Power Four junior in women's college basketball history to record 400 points, passing Clark in the process.

Fans took to social media, immediately bringing Caitlin Clark into the equation to make comparisons or laud Ta'Niya Latson's feat. Here are some of their reactions.

"The Clark Klan is gonna hate this," one fan said.
"She isn't even halfway to Clark's total points. I promise we we don't care about a trendy hoops cherry pick special," a fan commented.
"Seems like you’re the one in a Klan. The fact all women’s basketball people realize Clark the gold standard now even if you don’t want to admit it is great," one replied.

Most fans were supportive of Latson's achievement, looking forward to how far she'll go for the remainder of the regular season while seeing the standard Clark set for everyone.

"Keep shouting her out . The media seems to not want to talk about Latson who is balling !!!!" one fan exclaimed.
"Glad you realise Clark is the standard keep reminding them dont stop," one fan responded.
"CC is the standard.. love to see it!" a fan stated.

What's next for Ta'Niya Latson, FSU

Ta'Niya Latson has been a scoring sensation throughout the first half of the 2024-25 season for the Seminoles. After 15 games, Latson is averaging 27.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 2.8 steals. She is shooting 50% from the field and 43.4% from beyond the arc, on pace for the best offensive season of her collegiate career as she progresses through her third campaign as a Seminole.

Florida State has flourished with Latson's growth, boasting a 13-3 record that includes a 3-1 start in conference play. The team is producing 94.3 points on 45.8% shooting overall and 34.8% from downtown, blowing out opponents by a margin of 26 points per game.

Four players are scoring in double digits, including Latson. Makayla Timpson averaged a double-double of 18 points and 10.5 rebounds, while O'Mariah Gordon put up 16.9 points, four assists, 3.9 rebounds and 2.9 steals per contest.

Ta'Niya Latson and the Seminoles will look to return to the win column when they play the California Golden Bears at the Haas Pavilion on Sunday at 5 p.m. ET.
