UConn coach Dan Hurley has the opportunity to etch his name in the college basketball history books by winning a third successive national championship this coming season. However, like everybody else, Hurley is not without his own clandestine element.

During an exclusive interview with journalist Graham Bensinger this week, the National Coach of the Year detailed his journey from accepting the UConn job to getting offers from the Lakers. Bensinger also asked Hurley to take him through his 'weirdo room.'

"Only top recruits get in there, close family and then obviously if you join the team, you get in there. But there's all the stuff that make me happy or that I like or that empower me." [Time Stamp - 02:15]
"I do all my art in there too, all of my pieces, all my prayer, my meditation, my journaling, just all the stuff that either empowers me or helps me recharge or go through my morning routine, he added.

Dan Hurley's wife Andrea gave all the insight into what really is in the room during her interview with Bensinger.

"It's got like Jesus, it's got Batman, it's got Bengals, it's got sports power finalia, it's got everything, Andrea said. "You can't even put your finger on what age person sits in this room.

"It could be any age. It can even be a priest. It could be anyone. So he sits there, that's where he does all his meditations, and he spends a lot of time in there in the morning."

Dan Hurley breaks down his superstitions

UConn's Dan Hurley opened up about his superstitious beliefs and practices he adheres to on practice and game days.

While speaking with Graham Bensinger in the interview, Hurley described superstition as his armor — a set of rituals that help him feel more in control.

"Whether it's superheroes or the animals or the underwear," Hurley said. "If you saw what those underwear could look like in a very packed arena."

His wife Andrea said that many know about Hurley's underwear situation, wearing specific underwear on game day.

"I participate yes, 'cause can you imagine if I didn't have the underwear ready and they lost?" she told Bensinger.
"It screws me up. I do seven cherries, I cut things a certain way, just on game day. I make sure everything's like perfect.

Moreover, Dan Hurley also revealed that he would eat M&M before games but not of the colors the opponent wears. He likes to shoot a few half-court baskets before he starts practice, as a part of his routine.
