It was a perfect homecoming for LSU star Aneesah Morrow as the Tigers defeated the UIC Flames 91-74 at Credit Union 1 Arena in Chicago, Illinois, on Thursday night. Morrow contributed 19 points and 13 rebounds to help No. 5 LSU maintain its unbeaten 14-0 start to the season.

After the game, Morrow shared her mindset about winning and supporting her teammates during the postgame press conference.

"I always tell my teammates that I would want them to know they can depend on me to show up every night," she said.
"So that's my mindset going into every game — that my teammates are going to be able to depend on me to score, and if not scoring then I have to do something else defensively, offensively, it could be guarding one of their best players or rebound or something."

Aneesah Morrow expressed that her goal is to bring her best to every game for her teammates, as they place their trust in her.

"I try to show up every night for my teammates. Not for me, I am more proud of them for they supported me for me coming back home. They wanted me to have the best experience. I've been to KG and elementary, high school here as well. I just wanted to give them the best experience I can."

Aneesah Morrow honored as her No. 24 jersey is retired

Aneesah Morrow had a memorable day in Chicago. Not only did she help LSU defeat UIC, but her iconic No. 24 jersey was also retired at Simeon Career Academy.

Morrow received a warm welcome during her homecoming, with at least 40 family members in attendance out of the crowd of 4,322—the largest ever for a women’s basketball game at UIC. In the postgame press conference, Morrow credited her mother for inspiring her consistency in helping her teammates succeed.

"I always say, I always talk to my mother about it and she always tells you to be consistent, to be consistent. The numbers don't lie. When you come here and work everyday, eventually you will receive the flowers that you deserve and you'll be able to accomplish the goals that you want."

Morrow led Simeon to its first city and state championships before beginning her collegiate career at DePaul. She transferred to LSU to compete for national championships.

Aneesah Morrow currently ranks among the top rebounders in NCAA Division I history, recording her 1,412th rebound during LSU’s 94-64 win over Seton Hall in the Basketball Hall of Fame Women’s Showcase on Tuesday night.
