The latest AP Top 25 poll has been released before the holiday break and the Auburn faithful are not happy with their ranking. Despite starting the season with an 11-1 record, the Auburn Tigers are still ranked second in the rankings behind the Tennessee Volunteers.
The Tigers posted the ranking on their Instagram page on Monday morning, and many netizens were not pleased with the Tigers being ranked behind the Vols.
"They want a blood sacrifice for that number one spot," one fan said.
"What more does Auburn have to do," one user commented.
"Tennessee has played one ranked team," another user wrote.
"Everyone at AP had to have graduated from Tennessee or something," one fan commented.
There was one fan who suggested that the ranking snub could act as motivation for the team.
"Keep us at 2. Give the boys a point to prove all year," a fan wrote.
"All my homies hate the AP poll," one user said.
"Who cares!!! I just want to see them #1 at the END OF THE NCAA TOURNAMENT," another wrote.
The Tigers have only one defeat against a gutsy Duke squad through 12 games played this year and are in the running to better last season's 27-8 record. The team made the NCAA Final Four in 2019 and fans are hoping for something special from this group of players.
Auburn is soaking in Johni Broome's last season
Senior swingman Johni Broome is in his fifth and final year with the squad. With his ability to finish at the rim and lead the team with his experience, the program is taking advantage of his last campaign with them.
So far in this campaign, Broome has led the Auburn charge averaging 18.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.6 blocks and Auburn will rely on him as they go forward this season.
The Tigers will look to carry their momentum forward after the break on Dec. 30 versus the Monmouth Hawks.
