LSU star Flau'jae Johnson voiced her displeasure after the Gamecocks allegedly played her father Camoflauge's music at the end of the game. On Friday, No. 2 South Carolina defeated No. 5 LSU 66-56 in a highly anticipated SEC matchup at Colonial Life Arena.
Johnson, who scored 13 points and added 7 rebounds in the loss, called out South Carolina's actions on X, formerly Twitter, the following day. She added a screenshot of the Gamecocks DJ’s Instagram story about playing Camoflauge’s music, which the DJ responded to with a laughing emoji.
"I’ll take my L on the chin, but this just nasty behavior. Nun funny bout that," wrote Flau'jae, who is also a rapper.
Flau'jae Johnson's father, Jason Johnson, known by his stage name Camoflauge, was a prominent rapper in Savannah, Georgia. He was tragically shot and killed in 2003 before Johnson was even born.
So for the South Carolina DJ to play his music after a tough loss was seen as highly insensitive and disrespectful by the LSU junior.
The person behind all of this issued an apology on X on Saturday evening, by justifying their actions, saying it was not their intent to disrespect Flau'jae or her family.
"I’m from the Lowcountry/C-Port area so I’ve been playing it for years, even at other games, but I shouldn’t have played it at yesterday’s game," the DJ (@shejayto_) wrote.
"I play it on every radio station I’ve ever done from NC, GA, & SC & grew up on Camoflauge so it’s never played with ill intent or as a joke. apologize. ❤️"
