LSU Tigers guard Flau'jae Johnson's music continues to be enjoyed and appreciated. Her hit song "Came Out A Beast" was included in the NFL's Songs of the Season playlist earlier this month.
On Sunday, the song was featured in Jalen Hurts' hype video during the Philadelphia Eagles' game against the New Orleans Saints. Johnson shared the video on her Instagram story and added the caption:
"This is so liveeeee."
"Came Out A Beast" features Lil Wayne and was released in June as part of Flau'jae Johnson's debut EP "Best of Both Worlds." The album received a lot of love from fans and has inspired her to take her music further.
"I'm trying to perform arenas. I'm trying to tour. I'm trying to be a real established artist. I want to win a Grammy," Johnson said to TMZ on September 1.
Flau'jae Johnson then shared that her biggest inspiration in music is her late father Jason Johnson, who was popularly known by his rapper stage name "Camoflauge."
"I think he kind of would have been bouncing up the walls;" Flau'jae Johnson said. "Like, for sure, this is a big moment for me in my career. My debut project, I got Lil' Wayne on it. The video with Lil' Wayne, like, that's unheard of."
"So I know he'd be proud of me. My dad actually did a song with Birdman. It's called 'Laying My Stunt Down.' So it's kind of like a full circle moment, honestly."
Flau'jae Johnson reveals her post-college plans
Flau'jae Johnson is preparing for her junior season with the LSU Tigers. She was part of the championship-winning squad in 2023 but she and her team were eliminated in the Elite Eight last season.
Johnson is optimistic for the upcoming campaign and said that winning the title could lead her to move to the WNBA.
"I already won a national championship, but one’s not enough when I have two, two more years left maybe, you know?" Johnson said to The New York Post. "I just want to I want to leave my impact, make my mark. I’m doing something like nobody has ever really done before. So I wanted to be special."
"But I think like for me, it’s beautiful to be able to see the WNBA flourish more and I think it’s directly from the impact that our LSU team had. You can’t deny the fact that after Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese and LSU that women’s basketball had a surge."
Flau'jae Johnson added that she hopes to join Reese and Clark in bringing even more attention to the league.
