As wildfires continue to ravage Los Angeles, LSU star Flau'Jae Johnson sent prayers for those affected by the deadly blazes. She expressed her concern for the safety of those in the area via a tweet on Wednesday.
"Praying for LA rn this is so scary !🙏," Johnson wrote.
The Palisades Fire, which has erupted to more than 17,000 acres, has prompted massive evacuations as roughly 130,000 people have been ordered to flee their homes, per Sheriff Robert Luna.
The fires, which started on Tuesday, have already claimed at least five lives and destroyed numerous structures across the region.
Because of the rapid growth and spread of the fires, several university athletic programs have had to postpone their games. The Pepperdine Waves were scheduled to host Portland at Firestone Fieldhouse on Wednesday but had to postpone.
USC coach Lindsay Gottlieb also offered her prayers for the Los Angeles community following the devastating disaster.
"We've been on the road for whatever it is now, five days, and our city is on fire," Gottlieb said. "It's been hard to be away and watch those scenes. So just want to send our thoughts and prayers to the first responders, to those impacted, and I have friends that have been displaced, and I know that our players probably do, too."
The Trojans will be back in Los Angeles, California, on Sunday to host Penn State.
Flau'Jae Johnson's LSU Tigers' next stop Tennessee might be impacted by a winter storm
As Flau'Jae Johnson's No. 6 Lady Tigers prepare to take on the No. 16 Tennessee Volunteers on Thursday, they might have to adjust their travel plans due to an impending winter storm.
The LSU, unbeaten (17-0, 2-0), are slated to face the Vols (13-1, 1-1) in Knoxville at 5:30 pm ET. Although the game is still expected to be played as scheduled, the winter storm that is forecast to hit the South will likely impact travel plans for both teams.
The National Weather Service Has issued a warning for parts of Tennessee, including Knoxville that a winter storm will bring accumulating snow, sleet and freezing rain on Friday. Snow totals of 3-6 inches are possible for the Knoxville area.
"We already have the cold air in place so there's not much of a question about heavy snow this time around," the National Weather Service's forecast read.
Flau'Jae Johnson, LSU's junior guard and leading scorer at 19.7 points per game, hopes the threatening weather does not derail the Lady Tigers' gameplans on Thursday.
